I am just going to come right out and say it. This is by far the best WordPress FAQ plugin I have ever seen. Is it perfect? No, it isn’t. That said, the shortcomings are more annoyances than anything else.
These issues were noticed at the time of purchase, which is the post published date. Some things might have changed, although it does not look like it.
The plugin is extremely reasonable with regards to its pricing structure. For example, a single site license costs $12.99. 14 days worth of support is included at no charge. You can add lifetime support for $.99. That’s right, less than one dollar!
If you want to buy a multi-site license, 3 sites costs $22.99. 10 sites runs $32.99, and 100 sites will only set you back $42.99. You can add that same lifetime support for only $.99. This, in my opinion, is how WordPress plugins should be priced.
One might think that the plugin you are getting for that low price is missing features, is poorly supported, or, well, any number of shortcomings. Happily, that is not the case!
This plugin does everything that I asked of it, and probably will do more that I have not even thought of yet. The documentation is lacking, so if you are not willing to look at the many demo FAQs that are included, maybe you should look for another plugin.
I am not shy about something having a learning curve, and this one was definitely a bit steeper than average, but I am glad I stuck it out.
One confusing point was the video example refers to the plugin as ‘FAQ for Elementor’, and the title of the plugin in the WordPress repository is ‘Accordion FAQ’. A quick email to the author cleared up my confusion: they refer to the same plugin.
The plugin had the notice “Thank you for using FAQ for Elementor pro version.”, even though I was only using the free version at that time. That was very confusing! The author stated in an email that they planned to make changes, although I did not see that change.
Due to the responsive of the author via email, and his promise to fix the issues I raised, I went ahead purchased the biggest license with forever support for a total of $43.98.
A couple of other weird things I noticed and reported to the author were:
- In Category ID 1 there is the text “How to manage your account and it\’s features.” When editing the category the ‘\’ is correctly stripped. However, on the live site the ‘\’ remains visible. That said, the correct usage here would be “its” and not “it’s”. “It’s” is a contraction for ‘it is’, which is not appropriate in this instance. In other words the text ‘How to manage your account and it is features’ does not make sense.
- At the bottom of the ‘All FAQ’ tab page is the text: Enjoyed Elementor? Please leave us a ★★★★★ rating. We really appreciate your support! I think you meant to ask if the user is enjoying your plugin. The link leads to the Elementor review area: https://go.elementor.com/admin-review/, which redirects to: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/elementor/reviews/?filter=5/#new-post. You probably meant to direct users here for your plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/accordion-faq-for-elementor/reviews/
- The text “Thank you for using the “Accordion FAQ with Category” pro version.” is shown on the Notifications page under the License tab, even before you enter a license code.
- After entering a license code, on the License tab a field to enter the License Key persists. It is like the plugin does not completely recognize that the license key has been entered.
Like I said, more minor annoyances than anything else, although after a little over five years, I would have thought these would be resolved. According to the WordPress repository, the current version is 1.7, the same version I bought in May of 2021, although the ‘Last updated’ field indicates the plugin was last updated 1 month ago. So, who knows?
